Peter Dwyer

Peter began his creative life as an artist. While lecturing in Fine Arts at the Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University, he accepted commissions to paint murals and make sculptures all over Queensland. He also worked for the Brisbane City Council, and redesigned the streetscape for the suburb of New Farm. A short stint as costume and set designer for the Southern Ballet Company in New Zealand inspired Peter to study fashion design at East Sydney Tech.

Eventually, he presented his first collection of fashion garments at the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week 2000. Design assistant positions with Nicola Finetti and Carla Zampatti gave way to his appointment as head of the Fashion Department at the KVB Institute of Technology. Now, Peter heads the Styling Department for the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Sydney. Peter’s unique eye for beauty and design has won many awards in the hair industry. It culminated in his appointment as fashion director for the Hair Expo Finale shows for 2006 and, most recently, 2007.
